As I scan up to drink in the rest of the splendor that was this unusually elegant outfit for a Saturday at an African hair braiding salon, I take mental note of each pointed piece. Navy pleated skirt, navy and marigold paisley print blouse, extraordinary naturally long red nails, snow white full beard, deep brown hair with a circular revelation of a pale scalp.
"But just like physical exercise is not always easy, regularly fighting for my mental wellness stretches my emotional and spiritual muscles. I have to use techniques and methods that force me to deal with my emotions in the moment when I am tempted to avoid, feed, or pacify them. Sometimes that is really hard but I have seen the fruit of my labor and it is good."
Wow. It sure has been a long time since I've made a new blog post. But not a day has gone by that I haven't been thinking of stories and lessons I wanted to share with anyone who might stumble across this little site.
This year, I feel called to live my best life amid all of this newness.
